Legally speaking…November 11, 2024
Prayer time today. I told God that I knew I could do nothing apart from Him, that in Him I live and move and have my being (Acts 17:28). I asked Him what we were going to do with a situation we’ve found ourselves in. Then I admitted that I was really asking what HE was going to do, since I had no idea. I thanked Him that even though I couldn’t see it, I knew I was being held and He wasn’t letting go. He is my, our, lifeline, and I was holding on tight.
Then He showed me that it really had nothing to do with ME hanging on, but that He was hanging on to me. I saw His lifeline basically lassoed around my middle and I was being sucked toward an abyss opposite Him. I knew a human would find such a pit, full of fear and hopelessness, very difficult to get out of. The picture made it clear that but for that line, I’d be sunk. Still; even tied to Jesus, I, we, feel the affects of the battle. I thank God for His security, even as we’re being pummeled by debris being continually sucked into the chasm.
And here’s the thing: when the current is in essence sucking you toward destruction, and Christ’s lifeline is secured around our middles, think about how that looks. God is seated on His thrown, and Christ is holding every line to every heart from His position at the Father’s right hand….but we aren’t looking in Their direction. We naturally find ourselves pointed in the direction of the current. Perhaps we should turn around, but sometimes, well, it feels and seems like we can’t. But that’s okay. We’re bent in the middle with the pressure of the current, with all four limbs fluttering toward the darkness and its strong pull…but Christ’s grip, his rope is stronger. The current is temporary while the lifeline is eternal and cannot be broken.
The point: When we feel like the abyss is all we can see, Jesus has a hold of our lifeline; it’s literally attached to His being. And even in the times we can’t seem to turn around, we can’t SEE Him working because we’re pointed in the wrong direction…he has a firm grip on you, your heart, and your situation.
He’s got you. He never lets go. It’s going to be okay.
