Talitha Cumi

Taking her by the hand He said to her, “Talitha cumi,” which means, “Little girl, I say to you, arise.” – Mark 6:41

In my Word today, this passage was last to land, and it landed hard. I’m processing how it makes me feel, such a mixture and lacking clarity. Even so it feels personal; intimate.

The last couple of days I’ve mentally revisited, “Go in the strength you have,” a command given to Gideon and referenced in a previous post. It’s encouragement that even when we’re tired and beat down, we’re not finished. We can still go forth in Christ’s obedient strength, relying on Him for the strength we need and cannot find in ourselves.

Arise.

This feels more personal. Gentle. Intimate. Unlocking its sentiment required a pause, a hard stop in my thinking and doing.

Sometimes I think we’re so hung up on presenting our “adulting” in a positive light, a forced maturity we may or may not have, that we squirm when we consider manifesting our youth out-of-turn. We forget who we are.

I mentioned earlier this week childlike faith and it’s importance. We are Our Father’s children.

Try taking that a step further. Make it as intimate as He intends.

You are His daughter, His son. YOU are the little girl or little boy he adores.

He often meets us in stillness; loneliness, isolation: these can sometimes feel like quasi-deaths of sorts. But it’s in these moments, once everything else is stripped away and “death” in any of its forms seems imminent, that we can finally hear Him calling to us.

You are His daughter.

You are powerful.

You have a calling. HE is calling.

Our Father loves you, His daughter, son. He desires intimacy with us and has called us to walk in power, truth, and love.

Little girl, I say to you, arise.
